According to dictionary.com, the world nigger is as follows:

1.) a black person; any member of a dark-skinned people
2.) a person of any race or origin regarded as contemptible, inferior, ignorant, etc.
3.) a victim of prejudice similar to that suffered by blacks; a person who
is economically, politically, or socially disenfranchised.

Now, personally, I like the last one... Because, according to that definition, every single person on the planet is currently a nigger. Take that Neo-Nazi skinheads!

Now, some of you probably saw the title of this blog and immediately took offense. In fact, I can guarantee that many people will take offense. Why? Because they are insecure who seem to think that words can hurt. Words don't hurt. Words have no power over the body. They have power over the imagination, not to be confused with the mind.

When you read a book, you can, if the book is written well, see what is happening. You can visualize the characters and the towns and all the little details. This is called using your imagination.

Now, what is the point of this blog? Well, it's a very simple point. And that point is, of course, racism. Racism is, supposedly, rampant in this country and throughout the world. Dating back to the "slave times" which some people use to mark the period where white Americans used to own black Africans. However, slavery dates back much further, probably to the beginning of the human race.

When you hear of slavery, what do you think of? I bet you think of black people, or the Civil War, or Abraham Lincoln and the Emancipation Proclamation. Martin Luther King, Malcom X, and all the other great and influential black people whom has existed during those times.

Some of you might think of the Bible and the time when the Egyptian used the Hebrews as slaves to build their great periods; the story of Moses and his brother Aaron.

But how many of you know that the Jews themselves were involved with the slave trade once? The Radhanites used to merchant Saqaliba, whom were Slavic slaves in the early sixth to eleventh centuries.

Did you also know that, at one time, the Catholic Church was in support of slavery? In the late eleventh century, roughly ten percent of the people England were slaves. Slavery was so common, the Catholic Church prohibited it... Sort of... What they really did was say "Okay, you have Christian slaves? Well, you need to keep them in Christian countries." This is kind of the same as people who work at, lets say Wal-Mart, can only shop at Wal-Mart. Oh, unless they're black. Black people aren't people, so it doesn't matter where they are or who owns them. Doesn't make much sense for people who follow such a just and loving God, does it?

But it gets better! Yes, you Catholics, read about your beloved Church! In 1452, just forty years before a great hero, Christopher Columbus, and by hero I mean mass murderer probably on a scale worse than Hitler, the Pope at the time, Nicholas V, approved... Yes, you read that correctly, approved of and supported slavery, so long as they weren't Christian. In case that wasn't enough, he would further approve of it again in 1455, and his message was, basically, the justification used for the upcoming slave era, which would last for three hundred years, with another hundred fifty years of fighting for equal rights and all that.

Now, you also have some spatterings of Christians with Muslim slaves, big shock there. Oh, and you have some Africans with, get ready for it... White slaves from Europe! That's right! Wouldn't it be funny if like... One person, whom was white... Owned a black person... And the brother of the black person... Owned like... The brother of the first white person.

Now, this was nowhere near the scale of black slaves, roughly eight or nine percent, but it still existed. Now, keep in mind, that white people didn't go to Africa, hunt down the slaves, and sell them here. Oh, no. There were already black people in Africa, hunting down their fellow black people, and selling them to white people. So, you have black people selling black people to white people. Yet, white people get all the blame... Perhaps people should educate themselves before becoming so outraged.

Slavery still exists by the way. In Africa, no less. Black people still enslave black people. Oh, and there is AIDS... Polio... Tuberculosis...

And people still try to apologise for slavery... "We are sorry for what our ancestors did to your ancestors." Fuck you, no you aren't. The correct apology, which is still false, should be... "We our sorry our ancestors bought your ancestors from your ancestors."

At this time... Right now, in this world... The largest number of slaves exist that have ever existed. However, on the flip side, the smallest percent of the world population is enslaved that has ever been enslaved. So there are more slaves, but at a lower ration. Does that make it better? Obviously not.

Now, back to the word nigger...

Where are black people today? Anyone know? There is a black man in the White House of the United States of America. Do you know his name? Do you know where he's from? Do you know his wife's name? How many children does he have?

I bet you more people know the answers to the following questions than the questions posted above: What is 50 Cent's real name? What is the name of his first single? What are the lyrics? How many times was he shot?

Today, the role models for black people, are rappers. Mostly. They sing about... Let's see here... Murder, sex, violence, swearing... And profound use of the word nigger. In a society that is trying to move beyond racism, the word that makes you the most money... Is nigger. But, wait, nigger is bad! Let's make it cool. Let's make it hip. Drop the -er, pretend we're from Boston or the surrounding area, and use nigga. Yeah, nigga sounds good. And let's call all our friends nigga. Let's call black people we've never met before nigga. Hell, let's call random white people niggas.

Ever see a black comedian make fun of black people? White people? Chinese, Indian, Arab, Latin, etc...? Just, you know, all of them. Eddie Murphy, Chris Rock, Richard Pryor... All the "great" comedians turn race into comedy. Now, why is it funny? And why is it okay to laugh? Let me tell you a joke that Whoopie Goldberg once told...

"There was once a little black baby angel, flying through Heaven. And he saw God coming over the mountain. And he went up to God and said, 'God, I have these wings, am I an angel?' And God looked at him and said, 'No, nigga, you a bat!'"

The room she told it in was filled with mostly white people. Almost all of them laughed. But why did they laugh? Would they have laughed if the word nigga wasn't used? Would they have laughed if God wasn't used? Is it about race, is it about religion? What makes it okay in one instance and not another. Is it okay because the person who told it is black? Who the audience have laughed if the comedian was white?

The question is not about the word nigger. Nigger is a word and words don't mean anything. The real question that you need to ask yourself is... What is racism?

Racism is intention. Racism is not about words. Racism is not about color, or creed, or anything like that. Racism is about intention. Racism is hate and ignorance.

I view people like 50 Cent as racist. Why? They cash in on the feelings of black people. On the situations that black people have had to deal with. "Well, he's talking about us and all the crap we have to deal with, let's buy his record." He's not doing anything to help people move beyond racism, to look forward into the world. He's getting rich by keeping people stuck in the state of distrust, hate, and ignorance.

The next time you hear a joke, or watch a black comedian go on about race... Think to yourself... Who is the racist? The people the comedian is talking about... Or the comedian himself because he can't let go? You cannot move forward to the future if you cannot let go of the past. Otherwise the past becomes the future and we do all this again. "Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it." No, you're not. Because you don't forget the past. The past is there and you move on. You make a mistake, you paint over it and move on. Or you leave it, and it's a reminder for you to do better.

If you show off a piece of art, you don't constantly point out the flaws. You look at the flaws and see what you can do better. So, think to yourself, what are the flaws and are you still hung up on them? If you are, then you're a racist. And, according to definition two, you're a nigger. You're a racist nigger.
